Planning matrix in Ventoo Case Management

The planning matrix is a configurable matrix view for scheduling and assignment. You choose three dimensions – for rows, columns, and cell entry – and work in an overview similar to Business Central's financial reports.

Planning groups and views

  • A planning group bundles several planning views in a fixed order, similar to a sequence of financial reports.

  • Each view defines: the three dimensions, filters, up to five context fields (case fields/attributes shown in a factbox), and the entry mode.

Manage via Case Management Setup → Planning Groups.

Working with the matrix

  1. Open a planning group and page through the ordered views with Prev/Next.

  2. A factbox shows the filtered cases/activities with sequential shorthand IDs (1, 1.1, 1.2, 2, 2.1) and the chosen context fields.

  3. Select an entry and type its shorthand ID into a matrix cell – the values are assigned (e.g. planned date + time).

  4. The cell shows the resolved text. Multi-entry (with ;), clear/reassign are supported.

Further interactions:

  • Assignment target – shorthand entries write to the chosen date group: Planned, Actual, or Billed.

  • Week navigation – previous/next week/today, with highlighting of today and the current time row.

  • Cascading clear – clearing a planned value cascades to actual and billed when they match.

  • Swap row & column – on the view card, row and column dimensions can be swapped.

  • Name and shorthand matching – entries are assigned via shorthand ID or name matching.

Filters and visibility

Views use advanced filters (field filters and dynamic date tokens) and can be combined with saved filter sets. Case visibility is applied – so the matrix respects user, team, and role permissions. Editing in planning requires the Can Edit Planning permission (in the user mapping).
